È il parco più meridionale del sistema delle aree naturali protette del Lazio. Situato a pochi chilometri dal mare, è vicino al parco della Riviera d'Ulisse e, più a sud, al parco regionale di Roccamonfina in Campania. Si estende per 19.374 di territorio a interessare dieci comuni, quattro in provincia di Frosinone, Ausonia, Esperia, Pico e Pontecorvo e sei in provincia di Latina, Campodimele, Formia, Fondi, Itri, Lenola e Spigno Saturnia. Inoltre l'ente parco gestisce due monumenti naturali: Mola della Corte Settecannelle Capodacqua nel Comune di Fondi, istituito nel 2002 con una estensione di 4 ettari; e Cima del Monte Acquaviva Quercia del Monaco nei comuni di Fondi, Lenola e Vallecorsa, istituito nel 2004 con una estensione di 240 ettari. La sede del parco regionale si trova a Campodimele.
